Billionaire investor Warren Buffett compared artificial intelligence to the creation of an atomic bomb and expressed dismay at the rapid development of technology. He spoke about this at the annual meeting of shareholders of Berkshire Hathaway, writes business insider.
Buffett was skeptical about the ability of AI to replace humans. However, the billionaire recognized the wide possibilities of technology, despite some limitations.
“He can do anything. And when something can do anything, I get a little worried,” Buffett said.
The billionaire compared the creation of AI to nuclear weapons and paraphrased Albert Einstein’s quote about the splitting of the atom:
“AI can change everything in the world, except for how people think and behave, and this is a big step forward.”
Buffett has long been a vocal opponent of nuclear weapons. For decades, he has repeatedly spoken out about its danger and stated that he would give all his money to reduce the likelihood of attacks.
Earlier, Buffett questioned the ability of bitcoin to become the world’s reserve currency.
Recall that in May, the “godfather of AI” Geoffrey Hinton left Google and warned about the dangers of AI.
In March, more than a thousand industry experts called for a six-month suspension of all large language model development.
Bill Gates criticized the supporters of the pause. According to him, this will not help reduce the risks of AI.
