“Last year [фонд] CryptoRelief, led by Sandeep Naiveal, has committed $100 million towards COVID research projects that I wanted to fund. Sandeep and I discussed and came to a joint conclusion that these and other initiatives are highly effective and need grants,” Buterin said.
The developer added that the coronavirus pandemic and other diseases require a “global solution that combines cutting-edge scientific innovation and practical applications around the world.”
Buterin said $10 million of the new funding will come from him personally.

Crypto Relief India was the COVID fund that received $1.5B in SHIB from Vitalik Buterin.
In 2021, they raised over $460M from selling off the SHIB to Wintermute.
Last night, they sent $90M to a Multisig owned by Vitalik’s team to fund medical research. https://t.co/NT8UbcR8Zy pic.twitter.com/CNn17xgbFh

Naiveal founded Covid Relief in April 2021. According to website organizations, with the help of Buterin, they have raised more than $58 million in grants to fight the pandemic. The fund now has over $20 million in its bank account.
In April 2021, Vitalik Buterin donated 100 ETH and 100 MKR totaling over $600,000 to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier, Shiba Inu developers sent half of the emission of tokens to the wallet of the co-founder of Ethereum, which made him the largest holder of meme-cryptocurrency.
Later, Buterin burned 410 trillion SHIB, or 90% of his coins, and promised to donate 10% (70 trillion SHIB) to charity. In the same month, he transferred more than 50 trillion SHIB (over $1 billion at the exchange rate at that time) to the COVID-19 pandemic fund in India.
