The US Department of Commerce has imposed sanctions on a dozen Chinese manufacturers of quantum computing and artificial intelligence technologies, barring American companies from doing business with them. Writes about it Financial Times…

According to the ministry, eight organizations on the extended sanctions list are working in the field of quantum computing. These include QuantumCTek and the Hefei National Physical Science Laboratory at Microscale. Three subsidiaries of the Chinese firm Corad Technology Limited, which allegedly sold American technology to the military in Iran and North Korea, were also banned.

Officials are concerned that organizations may use “new” US technologies that could help carry out cyberattacks, create “unbreakable” encryption and develop systems to defend against stealth technology and submarines.

In total list added 27 organizations, including 13 Pakistani firms involved in the nuclear program and ballistic missile development. The Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology was also banned due to the alleged development of weapons.

We will remind, in October, the former director of the Pentagon for software Nicholas Chaillen said that China has already won the artificial intelligence race against the United States.

According to him, the United States will have no competitive advantage over China to fight in 15-20 years.

Later, the Pentagon denied Chaillen’s statement, pointing to the “close integration” of the Ministry of Defense with the industry and “coalition partners.”

In July, the US Department of Commerce imposed sanctions on Chinese AI companies for violating Uyghur rights.
