In January, participants in the DAO of the decentralized exchange supported the use of Wormhole in light of the launch of the protocol on BNB Chain. The proposal faced strong objections, and the vote in the Uniswap Foundation was called controversial.
In March, the organization behind the development of the platform ecosystem created a committee to analyze, research cross-chain solutions and propose options for further action.
“The committee believes that the Wormhole and Axelar bridges are currently suitable for use by DAOs to manage governance messages in future network-to-network deployments, but encourages the community to continually review them and other providers,” the framework concludes.
The cross-chain solutions considered by the committee also included LayerZero, Celer, DeBridge, and Multichain.
According to its members, the best option is to use several bridges. However, such protocols are only in their infancy and are not reliable enough.
The Uniswap Foundation Committee has developed criteria for further evaluation of acceptable cross-chain solutions. The list of these structures for research is planned to be expanded beyond the six considered.
Recall that in April DAO Uniswap approved the integration of the Polygon zkEVM protocol based on ZK-Rollup technology.
In May, the community proposed to deploy Uniswap v3 on the Base 2 network from the Coinbase crypto exchange.
