Uniswap Decentralized Exchange Community Members Vote No offers on the introduction of fees for the use of the protocol by liquidity providers.
45% opposed the introduction of fees for the use of the exchange. The rest are divided into two camps:
- 42% supported the commission option of one-fifth of the amount contributed;
- 13% suggested charging a tenth of the funds.
A preview of the feature in December 2022 found that users were generally positive about the change. However, some were wary of the risk of capital outflows due to lower revenues for liquidity providers.
The proposal was voted on May 31 by Uniswap’s development team, GFX Labs.
“Uniswap has the ability to include protocol usage fees and prove that the platform can generate significant revenue.” declared in GFX.
According to the developers, for DEX it is necessary to verify the identity of liquidity providers in order to prove that they belong to professional market makers, and not to ordinary large traders.
The final vote on the proposal will take place at the end of 2023. Probably, the developers will take into account the opinions of users and adjust the options to meet the interests of the community.
Recall that in April, the number of active users on Uniswap reached 84,796 for the first time since May 2021. Presumably, the growth in indicators is associated with a new wave of popularity of meme tokens.
In May, the community proposed deploying the third version of the protocol in Base, the second-tier network of the Coinbase crypto exchange.
