The head of the investment bank Goldman Sachs, David Solomon, did not invest in Bitcoin or Ethereum. In a conversation with CNBC, he noted that he did not have a “strong opinion” on the issue.
“I don’t personally own #bitcoin or #ethereum, “says $ GS CEO @DavidSolomon on #btc… “It’s really not something individually that’s important to me. I’m a big believer in the digitization and the disruption that’s occurring in the way financial services are delivered.” pic.twitter.com/8wTw0RsII0

“When you ask me if I have changed my point of view, I don’t know what exactly you mean. If we talk about bitcoin, then I really don’t know, but this is definitely not something that really matters to me specifically. I strongly believe in digitalization and the changes that are taking place in the way financial services are delivered – for institutions and individuals, ”he explained.
Host Andrew Sorkin asked the head of the bank if he wants customers to interact with digital assets. According to Solomon, he sees no reason to discourage this, but does not approve of such a practice:
“I want our clients to do what they see fit. As a speculative asset it is [криптовалюта] interesting. Are some of our clients involved [в этом рынке]? Undoubtedly. But whether it goes up or down – look what happened in the last week. I don’t know if bitcoin has a permanent fortune. “
At the same time, he stressed that the technology behind cryptocurrencies is much more important than digital assets themselves. In his opinion, blockchain or “other technologies that have not yet been invented” can accelerate the pace of digitalization of financial services.
Earlier, Solomon predicted a “major evolution” of the cryptocurrency market, which is still hampered by ineffective regulation.
In December, the media learned about Goldman Sachs’ interest in Bitcoin-secured loan products.
Recall that in May the financial conglomerate recognized the first cryptocurrency as an “asset class”, and in June called it an “unusable investment.”
