- A fully working version of the 1993 DOOM game has appeared on the Dogecoin blockchain.
- The developer used “inscription” technology for porting.
- Doginals support came online in May 2023.
A developer under the pseudonym Mini Doge announced that he launched the 1993 game DOOM on the Dogecoin blockchain. To do this, he used “inscriptions”.
The game is available at link. Gameplay is controlled using the keyboard; you can change the view using the arrows.
The developer has also added support for full-screen mode, which also works with the mouse. To do this, follow the link in the Content section. Mini Doge warned that the first boot will take about a minute.
To port the project, the developer used “inscription” technology; these are tokens based on the DRC-20 standard. When the client is deployed, all data is pulled directly from the Dogecoin blockchain.
Support for “inscriptions,” which are called Doginals, appeared in the project’s ecosystem in May 2023. Against this background, activity on the network jumped, which is clearly visible in this graph:
A similar situation was observed at the stage of the appearance of “inscriptions” in the Bitcoin network. This type of token has been criticized many times.
At the same time, many experts believe that the new standard has helped the Bitcoin ecosystem emerge from stagnation. These include, for example, the co-founder of the Ethereum project Vitalik Buterin.
