- These are the creations of the popular startup Boomy
- The chatbot was suspected of artificially “winding up” auditions and other “sins”
Spotify streaming service removed tens of thousands of songs written by artificial intelligence. These are mainly products of the music startup Boomy. However, in practice, the figure is not so big – only 7% of all Boomy compositions fell under the ban.
Scam bots
According to representatives of Spotify, the reason for the ban was suspicious activity on the service. They believe that the neural network artificially cheated listening. The bot pretended to be real people and increased the number of broadcasts of some tracks. Spotify also receives a lot of complaints about fraud and copyright infringement from competitors.
Startup Boomy appeared 2 years ago. The bottom line is that the tracks here are jointly created by people and a neural network. The user can select a favorite style or descriptor (for example, rain sound, sea, rap beats, etc.). And then, based on the requests, the AI generates a track. The resulting composition can be uploaded to a streaming service and receive royalties for this. During the work, Boomy clients have generated more than 14 million tracks.
The other day, Universal Music announced the fight against neural networks. They are asking Spotify and Apple Music to ban chatbots from accessing their songs. According to the label’s position, artificial intelligence violates copyright by using other people’s creations without permission.
By the way, recently ChatGPT picked up 12 cryptocurrencies for zodiac signs.
