  • He received 6.25 BTC for his work
  • The lucky one was a man from Russia
  • Under the new laws, the miners of the Russian Federation are required to declare income, otherwise they will go to jail

On March 13, a single miner with a hardware hash rate of just 6.7 PH/s mined block #780,112 on the Bitcoin blockchain. This was announced by the administrator of the Solo CK Pool service. Such luck brought a reward of 6.25 BTC.

Congratulations to miner39nDQ9BexEBXpRdkHY1z95CaMDEwh6muPW who solved the 270th solo block at https://t.co/UWgBvLkDqc with 6.7PH but doesn’t appear to have been mining for very long https://t.co/WGVBC3QajX

Note that this is indeed a rare case of luck. According to Glassnode, the computing performance of the network was then about 308,262 PH/s. This means that the 6.7 PH/s solo miner’s hash share only took up 0.002% of the entire blockchain computing power.

The solo miner admitted that he was from Russia. It is curious that before that the man worked on equipment with a capacity of about 270 TH / s. But a couple of days ago he rented additional capacity for 5 PH/s. Users in the comments advised the lucky one to play the lottery.

Declare or sit down

The Russian government recently issued a new regulation requiring cryptocurrency miners to report their earnings. Otherwise, they face up to 4 years in prison.

In addition to the income statement, the miners must also give all information related to the transaction. Including wallet addresses. If the violator is found guilty, the sentence will depend on the income of the miner.
