On June 13, German shoe conglomerate Puma launched the 3D metaverse Black Station. According to the developers, Black Station is an “experimental house” for product giveaways, designed to provide “unrestricted access” for Puma Pass Non-Fungible Token (NFT) holders.
The firm says the experience can be explored by anyone, but only those with RB tokens donated to Puma Pass holders can purchase the digital “Rulebreaker” sneaker and receive two digital wearables. At press time, RB tokens are currently priced at 0.0125 Ether (ETH). The developers wrote:
“If you don’t have an RB token, there is so much more to explore. Unkai, our city in the clouds, and Unter, our exciting club below, are full of mysteries to explore and collect.”
RB token holders can burn them between June 13th and 20th at Black Station, giving their parent wallet access to various products in the metaverse. According to the roadmap, Black Station will have a few more general events and NFTs this year, with 2024 events still in development.
The experience remains open until June 23rd. Puma has previously stated that it is exploring alternative networks, but decided to stay on Ethereum nonetheless. It is also possible to purchase digital collectibles with a credit card in addition to connecting a wallet and using ETH.
In February 2022, it was reported that Puma had registered an Ethereum naming service domain and changed its Twitter name to Puma.eth. At that time, Puma invested in various cat-inspired NFT collections including Cool Cats NFT, Lazy Lions, Gutter Cat Gang and CatBlox.
