- Validators now have the ability to bring rewards to the execution level
- The next testnet in line is Goerli
- It will be over in the coming weeks.
- After that, Shanghai will be installed on the main network
Last week, we reported that the Shanghai update on the Sepolia testnet was scheduled for February 28th. The upgrade was successful, which means that the launch of the mainnet upgrade is getting closer.
Recall that the task of this simulation was in testing the possibility of withdrawing differently blocked ether. This is what makes the Shanghai update perhaps the most long-awaited.
We also note that Sepolia became the second testnet where the Shanghai package was launched. Prior to this, the upgrade was successfully installed in Zhejiang.
The update started at epoch 56832 at 4:04 UTC and ended at 16:17 UTC. According to the developer’s report, the model successfully reproduced the withdrawal simulation of staked ETH.
The next test, perhaps even more important, will take place on the Goerli testnet. There is no exact date for the launch of the update, but they promise to carry out the upgrade in the coming weeks.
Shanghai will then be released on the main network. Along with this, validators will have the opportunity to bring rewards to the execution level. Note that during the first test, in the Zhejiang network, small errors were found. Whether there are any at the launch of the update in Sepolia is still unknown.
Despite the seemingly good news, the ETH rate is in the red (-5.37% for the week). But if we take a wider time frame, for example, a month, the price will already be in positive territory (+2.63%). It is noteworthy that the update in the Zhejiang testnet took place just on February 1.
