The decision was made as part of the cooperation between the Worldcoin Foundation and the Tools for Humanity software provider with the managing organization Optimism Collective.
According to the announcement, the World App “gas-free wallet” and World ID decentralized identity protocol will be transferred to the new network.
“With over 1.6 million beta signups and over 500,000 monthly monthly active World App users, optimism’s mainnet rollout will expand access and help Worldcoin build a value-driven ecosystem of developers and users,” the startup said.
Worldcoin started partnering with Optimism almost a year ago to develop a proposal to improve Ethereum – EIP-4844.
The Optimism team, in turn, pursues the goal of implementing “super chains”which involves the creation of an ecosystem of second-level networks for secure interaction with other blockchains.
Recall that in March, the startup introduced the World ID protocol and a software development kit for decentralized biometric identification.
In May, the company released its own World App crypto wallet, which offers commission-free transfers for verified users. The app supports USDC and DAI stablecoins, as well as Ethereum (ETH), Worldcoin (WDC), and Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC).
