Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal and venture capital fund Symbolic Capital announced the launch of the Nailwal Fellowship program. Writes about it CoinDesk.
The goal of the initiative is to provide financial support to aspiring developers in the transition from Web 2.0 to Web3. Each year it is planned to select 10 participants, each of which will receive $50,000 in the form of a grant.
The Nailwal Fellowship is open to all developers, regardless of age or location. Applications are accepted from May to early June, interviews will be held at the end of June.
“This is not about funding a startup. This is a fellowship that will support people at a very, very early stage. Some of them may not even have an idea and just want to explore,” Nailwal explained in an interview.
In August 2022, the Polygon co-founder launched a $50 million Symbolic Capital focused on Web3 startups in emerging markets. Then, Nailwal called the opportunity to more officially support projects that are already in his orbit of influence as one of the main motives for the implementation of this initiative.
In May 2023, he, along with Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko and ConsenSys head Joseph Lubin, supported the Web3-focused company Credably Neutral.
Recall that in April, Berlin-based venture capital firm Bitkraft raised $220.6 million to launch its second fund to invest in the Web3 gaming sector.
