Opinion: Russia has overtaken China in building systems for Internet blocking

Blocking systems built by Roskomnadzor and its subordinate companies are the next generation of technologies that are implemented for the same purposes in China. About this YouTube channel “Revision” said IT expert Grigory Bakunov.

“We have been saying for many years that we are moving towards the Chinese Internet, the Chinese firewall, but we have quietly overtaken China in this area,” he said.

In his opinion, if YouTube is blocked in Russia, technically for this, as in cases of restrictions on other services, equipment will be used. TSPU:

The Executive Director of the Society for the Protection of the Internet, Mikhail Klimarev, noted that the popularity of VPNs is growing in the Russian Federation, although it is now impossible to measure this indicator due to the large number of such services.

Previously, the Russian authorities did not rule out a VPN ban and have already blocked more than a dozen.

“You need to understand that a VPN service is not a website. This is a service that was created to bypass blocking, and they know what to do when they are blocked, ”Klimarev noted.
