During the live broadcast of the match NBA basketball player Shaquille O’Neal received a new subpoena for promoting the collapsed FTX. This is reported The Wall Street Journal.

O’Neill was also charged in a separate case for advertising the Astrals NFT collection. The documents state that the non-fungible tokens were unregistered securities.

“The wealth of Astrals NFT investors and the value of the tokens are almost entirely due to O’Neill’s celebrity status and the success of his advertising campaigns,” the complaint reads.

The Astrals were the brainchild of an NBA star, the prosecution alleges. The appointment of his son, Miles O’Neill, as head of investor relations shows that the Astrals team saw the project as a marketing opportunity.

The two lawsuits are being pursued in tandem by law firms Moskowitz and Boies Schiller Flexner. In April, the athlete already received a subpoena in the FTX case. The star’s lawyers later disputed the complaint.

Lawyer Adam Moskowitz said that litigation can now proceed.

Moskowitz also noted that O’Neal kicked the lawyers out of the match after serving the paperwork. At the same time, the entire process was filmed so that “there would be no ambiguity.” According to the basketball player, last time the summons was “thrown into his car.”

Shaquille O’Neal is the latest in a group of celebrities who are being prosecuted for FTX ads. Among them is former basketball player Stephen Curry, star NFL Tom Brady, comedian Larry David and Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka.

Recall that in May it became known that the lawyers of the founder of FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried, are seeking the court to drop many of the charges before the start of the main process. They are asking for almost every count except conspiracy to commit securities, commodities and money laundering fraud.
