  • Before that, another date was called – August 2022
  • The first tranche will be received after March 10
  • It includes both one-time and recurring payments.

Rumors that Mt.Gox would start paying compensation appeared back in August 2022, but they were debunked by the exchange’s creditors. Later, the company announced another date – September of this year. Part of the payments will be received in mid-March.

The first tranche will include both early lump-sum and interim payments. Neither the amount nor the exact timing is still unknown. Translations are expected will do after March 10th.

The epic with Mt.Gox dragged on for more than 10 years. This winter, customers were asked to fill out a questionnaire in which they could choose the payment format. At the same time, the two largest lenders preferred BTC.

It is also interesting that in August last year, rumors about the start of payments from Mt.Gox seriously affected the crypto market. Allegedly, unlocking a large amount of BTC could undermine the rate.

But this time the reaction of the community was rather sluggish. Mt.Gox managed to recover only about 20% of the lost amount, that is, 142 thousand BTC and the same amount of BCH.

This is 28% of the average weekly asset supply. Unlocking so many “coins” at once can really affect the course.

But taking into account the fact that the payments will stretch for six months, the effect will be blurred. Moreover, some Mt.Gox lenders are still investing in cryptocurrencies and are unlikely to immediately convert the received compensation into fiat.
