- He passed the reading in the profile committee
- Now it’s the turn of the House of Representatives and the Senate
- If it is accepted, mining in the state will actually be legalized.
- The bill will define the requirements and rights of “farmers”
Yesterday, March 7, the relevant committee of the Missouri House of Representatives passed the Digital Asset Mining Protection Act (HB764). A similar bill had previously passed in the Mississippi Senate.
The main idea of this bill is to limit prohibitive measures against miners. Utilities will not be able to arbitrarily raise tariffs, turn off “farms” or force operators to move.
In fact, this is a guarantee that miners will be treated without prejudice. And this is not a joke at all. In the United States, they are seriously discussing the possibility of banning the mining of cryptocurrencies in individual states.
This is what they did, for example, in New York. Americans complain about noise pollution, carbon emissions, network outages and increased system load. In this regard, miners are often simply forced to pay more.
At the same time, the industry can become the “locomotive” of the region. The first to understand this were in Mississippi. There, a similar bill has already been adopted and will work in the near future. Here, the same requirements apply to “farms”, including those from private traders, as to other enterprises.
After being read in committee, the bill must be heard in the House of Representatives and then in the Senate. If he is accepted there as well, he will end up on the governor’s table.
