- The neural network will become a voice assistant to the driver
- For now, the option will only be available in the US.
Mercedes-Benz implements the ChatGPT chatbot into the MBUX voice control system. This option has appeared in new models produced in the USA. And so far only in beta tests. The program started on June 16, and more than 900,000 vehicles equipped with the MBUX system participate in it.
Customers will have the option to participate in the beta program through the Mercedes-me app or directly from the vehicle. Just gotta give the command “Hey Mercedes, I want to join the beta program”. Mercedes-Benz is integrating ChatGPT with Azure OpenAI using the Microsoft cloud and AI platform.
The purpose of the tests is to enrich the conversational skills of the chatbot, help the driver and simply entertain him.
“Users will get a voice assistant that not only understands commands, but can also have complex conversations. Soon, participants who ask the voice assistant for details about the destination will begin to receive more information, because the neural network is constantly learning. For example, she will offer a new recipe for dinner or give a detailed answer to a difficult question. At the same time, the driver does not have to take his hands off the steering wheel or his eyes on the road.
The experiment will last 3 years, after which the company will decide whether to equip the entire Mercedes line with a neural network.
