The SEC won a federal lawsuit against Jimmy Gale Watson, Jr., who previously served as an assistant to entrepreneur John McAfee. Writes about it The Block.
Gail Watson Jr. is the second defendant in the case, which started in October 2020 at the initiative of the SEC. The court banned him from selling or advertising digital assets, and ordered him to pay more than $375,000.
According to information provided to the court, Gail Watson Jr. helped his boss promote Twitter’s initial coin offering and did not disclose that he was paid for it.
According to the SEC, McAfee made more than $23.1 million advertising at least seven token sales that sold “digital securities.” The plaintiff alleges that the entrepreneur misled investors.
Additionally, the US Department of Justice accused him of tax evasion. Arrested in Spain McAfee called the claims of the authorities “bloated” and politically motivated.
Recall that in June 2021 the Supreme Court of Spain allowed extradition McAfee in the USA. A few hours later he was found dead in a prison cell.
