In a press release released Friday, three-time NBA champion and Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James will partner with cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com to support Web 3.0-focused training and workforce development opportunities. Specifically, according to local news outlet Akron Beacon Journal, the partnership will help 1,600 children from LeBron James’ hometown of Akron, Ohio, learn about the technology behind cryptocurrencies and how it will help their careers in the future.
“Blockchain technology is revolutionizing our economy, sports and entertainment, the art world, and the way we interact with each other. I want communities like the one I come from to not be left behind,” James said. Students will have access to space careers in both virtual and in-person sessions with Crypto.com experts. Chris Marsalek, co-founder and CEO of Crypto.com, made the following remarks:
We are very proud to join LJFF [Фонд семьи Леброна Джеймса] in providing opportunities to improve education and workforce development, and provide the tools and access to enable the next generation to build a better and more inclusive future.
Crypto.com is currently the 5th largest exchange with a 24-hour trading volume of $3 billion. It has over 10 million clients. However, not all users were fans of the development. Some have argued that the company should have focused more on improving the customer experience than committing funds to such partnerships.
You keep spending all that money on your partnerships, but your customer support is still the worst. Some still don’t have a refund after you’ve been hacked. — David Blyth (@DavidBlythBEM) January 28, 2022
