
The Russian government and the largest Russian company signed Artificial Intelligence Code governing the moral and ethical side of the use of technology. The document is designed to meet the requirements of the National Development Strategy of artificial intelligence for the period up to 2030.
The Code was signed within the framework of the international forum “Ethics of Artificial Intelligence: The Beginning of Trust”. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, the representatives of “Rostelecom”, “Yandex”, “Sberbank”, the VK, “Skolkovo”, the HSE and others – a total of 20 companies.
The document consists of 32 items and sets out the basic ethical principles for companies of AI sphere. Among them:
- cooperation of market participants in the creation of universal AI systems;
- informing users about their interaction with the algorithms;
- providing an opportunity to stop interacting with artificial intelligence at the request of the client;
- prevention of threats posed by the technology.
According to Chernyshenko, the document will increase the level of citizens’ confidence in new technologies. He added that Russia is one of the world leaders in the field of artificial intelligence and is among 20 countries that have approved codes of ethics.
“Based on the world’s best practices, Russia will rank among the top ten countries for which ethical development is more important than technology. It is artificial intelligence that is the most important technology of the 21st century, has absolutely national importance, ”he said.
Implement the provisions of the Code will be a special commission, which will include scientists, representatives of business and authorities. The signatories of the document the company must appoint an authorized person of the ethics of artificial intelligence.
Chernyshenko also said that about 100 more companies will be able to join the Code by the end of 2021.
Earlier, the head of the Skolkovo Foundation, Arkady Dvorkovich, announced the need to establish uniform ethical standards in the field of artificial intelligence.
Recall that in October the first standards in the field of artificial intelligence were presented in the Russian Federation.
In August, United Russia proposed limiting the use of AI in medicine and education.
