According to an announcement on May 8, Worldcoin, a project to identify people and distinguish them from artificial intelligence, has launched a gas-free cryptocurrency wallet for verified people.
The new wallet called “World App” runs on Android and iOS operating systems. It currently operates on the Polygon (MATIC) network, allowing users to store and transfer US Dollar (USDC), Dai (DAI), Ether (ETH), Worldcoin (WDC), and Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) coins.
World App uses the project’s “World ID” system to distinguish between humans and bots. Users who want to take advantage of gasless transfers must first register for a World ID by providing a phone number or by scanning their iris. The developers say that the project does not store user data. Instead, it generates a zero-knowledge proof to verify that the user is human, but does not reveal the data used to create the proof.
Even users who do not have a World ID can still use the app, but they cannot benefit from free transactions. The announcement states that the application uses an account abstraction to allow a third party to pay for gas.

The project has partnered with regulated cryptocurrency exchanges including Moonpay and Ramp to offer wallet entry and exit. Once the coins are stored in the wallet, they can be exchanged using the built-in Uniswap integration. Users can also connect their phone numbers to the app to send and receive cryptocurrency through phone contacts.
Speaking to Cointelegraph, Worldcoin Core team member Thiago Sada stated that the wallet was created to offer an easy option for inexperienced cryptocurrency users.
“When we first started, we were really just using regular wallets, wallets that a power user like me would use day in and day out, and it turned out they were too bulky for regular people. There were too many options, too many things to do [это] It wasn’t very clear,” he said. “We are launching [World App] as a product to create this alternative wallet focused on simplicity alone.”
Worldcoin was co-founded by Sam Altman, who is also a co-founder of ChatGPT developer OpenAI.
