Spacers_subsocial-min 1

In early November, the Subsocial platform released the Spacers NFT collection of the RMRK 2.0 standard, which allows you to modify non-fungible tokens by adding and removing attributes.

Let’s talk about the features subsocialthe project team and the role of Spacers in the platform ecosystem.

What is Subsocial

Subsocial is a protocol and parachain on the Kusama blockchain focused on creating social dapps and integrating them into existing applications.

The platform is based on the Substrate framework and uses the IPFS protocol for decentralized file storage.

“We call Subsocial the “Social Finance (SoFi)” protocol for Polkadot. This means that users can create their own communities based on Polkadot and IPFS with built-in content and community monetization features. comments founder and CEO of the platform Alexander Siman.

Substrate allows Subsocial to connect to the Polkadot ecosystem, which provides secure data exchange and transactions, as well as compatibility with various parachains.

Content on Subsocial is hashed to create identifiers (CIDs) – links to files in IPFS. Only CIDs are written to the blockchain: applications can use them to download content.

The platform is based on several components: spaces (spaces), posts, comments, likes and subscriptions.

Spaces are like Facebook subreddits or groups, posts are like tweets or Medium articles. Comments, likes and subscriptions are familiar to everyone who uses social networks.

Users manage the on-chain platform: all spaces and posts are directly linked to their addresses. The protocol supports Polkadot.js, Talisman, SubWallet, Nova Wallet and other wallets.

The platform code is open: developers customize the user interface and adapt it to the needs of communities using Subsocial JS SDK. To launch the first application on the platform, you can use the template Subsocial Starter.

Subsocial does not block content, but allows space owners to set their own moderation rules.

The project team

Subsocial was founded in 2019 by Oleksandr Siman, a blockchain developer and Polkadot Ambassador in Ukraine. In the same year the platform received two grants from the Web3 Foundation and became a member of the Substrate Builders program from Parity Technologies.

Project advisors include Parity Technologies core developer Sean Tabrizi and RMRK.app founder Bruno Skvorts.

The launch of the platform took place in September 2020, and in December 2021, Subsocial won the 16th parachain auction on Kusama, gathering over 100,000 KSM and distributed 16.5 million SUB to members.

The role of SUB in the platform ecosystem

SUB is a native Subsocial token with a total emission of 100 million units. SUB holders are eligible to participate in the management of the Subsocial and individual communities.

In addition, tokens can be used to pay for:

  • transactions on Subsocial;
  • advertising content in communities;
  • Subsocial Usernames – universal domains for social applications in the Polkadot ecosystem;
  • subscriptions, tips, buying or renting spaces.

Subsocial has distributed a portion of the offer to participants in a private token sale and a parachain auction on Kusama.

Users can sign up for waiting listto be notified of the public sale of SUB.

Privileges for Spacers Owners

Spacers – An NFT collection of the RMRK 2.0 standard from the Subsocial team, released on the Moonriver Kusama parachain. It includes 10,000 non-fungible robotic soldier tokens.

RMRK: An NFT Builder That Lets You Create Anything

Owning NFT Spacers is a Subsocial VIP membership. The platform provides token holders with exclusive privileges:

  1. Free energy (energy) to pay for transactions at a discount. It can also be obtained by burning SUB in energy station. Energy is not a token, it cannot be transferred to other users and converted back to SUB.
  2. Priority message display V PolkaVerse — a web application for creating niche communities that can be connected using a Subsocial account or a crypto wallet (Polkadot, Kusama). At the time of publication in PolkaVerse created over 10,000 spaces.

    Spacers holders’ posts will be displayed on the app’s home page, and their NFTs will be prioritized based on their rarity.

  3. Access to premium features on Sub ID – a service that combines the addresses of parachains based on Substrate. For example, an address in Polkadot can be used to generate a related address in Kusama, Subsocial, etc.

    Spacer owners will be able to show the token in Sub.ID or hide the profile.

  4. Login to a private Discord server SpacerDAO is a community of NFT Spacer owners. Subsocial plans to decentralize SpacerDAO and implement an on-chain governance system.

As the project develops, developers will add new utility functions for NFT Spacers owners. Up-to-date information on collection website.

Sales of NFT boxes Spacer Pod will last until January 2, 2023. After this time, they will turn into random Spacers with unchanged traits and a set of equipment of varying rarity.

The cost of boxes ranges from 5 to 500 MOVR depending on the rarity of the soldier.

conclusions

Subsocial is the SoFi protocol on which the Sub.ID service and the PolkaVerse social network already operate. Users of the latter have launched more than 10,000 spaces and published almost 25,000 posts

Collection Spacers is an important part of the Subsocial ecosystem: token holders receive exclusive benefits, including free transactions and access to the closed SpacerDAO community. The number of functions of NFT robots will increase as the project develops.
