- Brian Armstrong does not criticize the SEC
- He understands the importance of regulation and is ready to cooperate
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong gave great interview with Bloomberg. One of the hot issues was the relationship of the crypto exchange with the US authorities. Recently, the SEC and other regulators have been imposing sanctions on crypto companies, making controversial statements and actions.
Armstrong says they have a “good relationship with the SEC” and share key interests:
“We are committed to making the crypto industry compliant. We want to provide good consumer protection. But at the same time, it is important to maintain innovative potential.”
Recall that yesterday Coinbase launched the Crypto435 political platform ahead of the elections. They are ready for dialogue with the authorities and society to discuss the pressing issues of crypto adoption.
“If there are clear rules, we will gladly comply with them. And if the rules change, we are ready to follow them too.”
The businessman added that he worked closely with the SEC during the launch of the Coinbase crypto exchange. He is now in contact with other regulators around the world.
Armstrong believes that the United States will make a big mistake if it interferes with the development of crypto business in the country.
“This is America. We need to remain a technological and financial hub. The future of this industry needs to be built right here in America.”
A recent Coinbase poll showed that 20% of Americans own cryptocurrencies and see them as a chance for change.
