- His account has a blue tick
- But this did not save the page from being hacked.
- The scammers also created a fake OpenAI website
Hackers hacked the Twitter of OpenAI CTO Mira Murati. They posted there advertising scam drop. The tweet was deleted within an hour. But just in case, we warn you again – switching to third-party links is a risk.
The most annoying thing is that Murati is a verified Twitter account. That is, it has a blue tick. She has over 126,200 followers. The fraudulent post was viewed 79,600 times and retweeted 83 times. But so far there is no information about the victims of the scam.
The criminals closed the comments on the tweet when they were posted so that the community could not write about the deception. However, many social media users tagged record as a scam.
The scam ad led to a site that completely copies the real OpenAI site. The resource has the same layout and design. The only thing that could stop the victims from the scam was a link to connect a crypto wallet. There is no such integration on the real OpenAI site.
According to Beosin analysts, the phishing link was stealing NFTs and ERC-20 tokens from the wallets of gullible users after the transaction was signed.
Unfortunately, Twitter scams have become the norm. Perhaps that is why the capitalization of the social network has fallen by more than 60% since the purchase of the company by Musk.
