- The company is working on the creation of the Gemini system
- It is currently under development
- This process can take several months and cost millions of dollars.
Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis declaredthat they are working on a new artificial intelligence system called “Gemini” that will be more powerful than the algorithm used in OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
Gemini is a large language model currently under development. It is similar to GPT-4 which is used by ChatGPT. However, Hassabis notes that their team will combine this technology with the methods used in AlphaGo in order to provide the system with new capabilities, such as scheduling or problem solving. AlphaGo is an artificial intelligence program developed by the DeepMind AI Lab that made history by beating the Go board game champion.
“You can think of Gemini as combining the strongest aspects of systems like AlphaGo with the outstanding language abilities of larger models. Apart from that, we also have some new innovations that are going to be very exciting.” Demis said.
He added that the development of Gemini is still ongoing and will take several months. The estimated cost of the process can be tens or hundreds of millions of dollars. According to Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, GPT-4 cost over $100 million to build.
