Former UK Treasury Chancellor Philip Hammond urged retail investors to “be extremely careful” when investing in cryptocurrencies. Writes about it This is Money (the Daily Mail app).

“If a member of my family asked me [инвестировать ли в криптовалюту], I think I would draw his attention to the fact that large and reputable asset managers are now more likely to test the waters […] This is almost certainly not suitable for retail investors as the main investment category, ”the ex-chancellor said.

Hammond mentioned the volatility of cryptocurrencies and noted that this should not be forgotten.

“I know a lot of people who have little access to cryptoassets, but this is the money they wrote off. This is gambling money. I think people should be extremely careful. Many consider them [криптовалюты] more a game than a serious investment, ”he added.

In October, Hammond joined Copper’s custodian team as a senior advisor. He is responsible for promoting the UK “as a global leader in digital asset technology” and strategically advising the company as it expands globally.
