- Circle wants to work with regulators
USDC stablecoin issuer, Circle, hires new chief legal officer. This position will be taken by the former chairman of the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Geet Tarbert.
Before taking up his duties at Circle, Geet spent 18 months at the CFTC. More specifically, he worked for Citadel Securities, a marketing firm, where he also held a senior legal position.
Jeremy Allaire, co-founder and CEO of Circle, stated:
“Git’s addition to our leadership team provides Circle, as a global company, with incredible opportunities for experience and leadership. Our goal is to build bridges between the traditional financial sector and Web3, and Heath’s vision and extensive legal and global regulatory experience will allow us to spread the value of USDC widely throughout the global market.”
Circle is also actively expanding its political activities in Washington, particularly through the recruitment of new employees. The move is intended to win legislators’ support for the company’s technology. Recently, on the cover of Forbes magazine, Allair appeared with the headline “Please Regulate Us,” reflecting the company’s desire to cooperate with regulators.
