- These are the results of the McKinsey study
- AI drives the economy by $2.6 trillion annually
- This is comparable to the emergence of a new country
McKinsey, world leader in consulting introduced AI outlook report.
According to them, artificial intelligence will add $2.6 trillion to $4.4 trillion a year to the global economy. This is equivalent to adding one new country the size and productivity of the United Kingdom ($3.1 trillion of GDP in 2021) to the world.
To compile the study, McKinsey experts examined 850 occupations and 2,100 different activities in 47 countries. They analyzed over 80% of the global workforce.
In addition, McKinsey believes that modern AI and other technologies can automate work processes that today occupy 60 to 70% of employees’ working hours. And half of these tasks will be completely taken over by neural networks.
Will people lose their jobs?
In the final conclusions, McKinsey notes that the growth of AI does not mean unemployment for people.
“We could significantly speed up the execution of these works and make them much more accurate than today”
Generative intelligence will add 0.2 to 3.3 percentage points per year to global economic growth. But many workers will need to learn new skills. And some will change occupations.
In addition to work tasks, AI can take on the issues of entertainment and spiritual life. So, in Germany, ChatGPT successfully held the first Mass for parishioners.
