Ethereum developers scheduled Shapella for April 12th

Ethereum Team decided with the date of the Shanghai-Capella (Shapella) hard fork in the mainnet. The long-awaited update is scheduled for April 12 (epoch 620.9536).

The upgrade involves the implementation EIP-4895 – proposals to improve the main network, which involves opening the possibility for users to withdraw funds from staking.

Also planned several updatesaimed at optimizing gas costs.

Recall that on March 15, the Ethereum team held a Shapella hard fork on the Goerli testnet.

Prior to this, the developers activated this update on the Sepolia testnet. The hard fork includes changes to Ethereum consensus levels and execution. Its main goal is to open access to the withdrawal of ETH from staking.
