Investment firm SK Square has invested 90 billion won (~ $ 75 million) in the Korbit cryptocurrency exchange by purchasing a 35% stake. Writes about it The korea herald with reference to the firm.
According to the statement, SK Square and Korbit plan to jointly promote Bitcoin exchange services and “popular cryptocurrency products.” The latter included non-fungible tokens (NFT) and the metaverse.
SK Square is a subsidiary of SK Telecom, the largest mobile operator in South Korea, which is part of the SK Group conglomerate. The firm also invested 8 billion won ($ 6.7 million) in 3D avatar maker Onmind, which is associated with tech giant Kakao, according to the publication.
Company representatives confirmed SK Square’s intention to continue investing in new technologies such as blockchain and the metaverse.
