Digital Bitcoin Art and Assets (DIBA) launched beta version of the “first Bitcoin-NFT marketplace” based on smart contracts RGB.
The marketplace will allow users to trade assets issued on the blockchain of the first cryptocurrency or second-tier networks such as the Lightning Network.
DIBA, in collaboration with the Hut 8 Mining miner, has also released a standalone wallet app that can store music files and images. The marketplace is also compatible with other blockchain services.
According to the founder of the project, Gideon Nweze, the RGB protocol is designed to provide “increased security, privacy, scalability and lower fees.”
“Our launch marks an important milestone in the transition of the Internet to bitcoin. […] You can think of DIBA as a gateway to the possibilities of the first cryptocurrency technology,” Nweze said.
Among the investors of the startup is the venture capital company of billionaire Tim Draper Draper Associates.
The head of DIBA also added that he does not share the passion for new technologies Ordinals and BRC-20.
“BRC-20 is the most stupid technical experiment in the field of cryptocurrencies. […] Basically, they are trying to turn the Bitcoin network into Ethereum. In practice, this is ridiculous and inefficient,” he explained.
Earlier, sales of an NFT collection based on the first cryptocurrency Bitcoin Frogs reached $2.24 million per day, overtaking Bored Ape Yacht Club.
Recall that in May, Bitcoin Core developer Luke Dash Jr. proposed using a “spam filter” for BRC-20 and Ordinals standard tokens due to their negative impact on the blockchain. According to him, such an approach would help “weed out” the transactions associated with them, which Dash called “garbage”.
