- The developers have made several changes
- They removed hints for payments via Lightning
Damus social media platform decided dispute with Apple and remains in the AppStore service.
Recall that the “apple giant” wanted to remove the application because it accepts payments via Lightning. Recently, the marketplace has new rules – Apple wants to control all transactions through its services and charges up to 30% commission. Also recently, the AppStore started blocking apps that support Lightning transfers because they can’t be tracked and charge a fee.
In response to Apple’s decision, Damus changed its app to remove the ZAP (payment prompt) button and move the feature to user profiles.
The developers of the app are frustrated with the restrictions placed on their platform. They accused Apple of “giving people more reasons to give up their devices.”
Some Damus users feel that keeping the app in the AppStore is already a small win.
“Most importantly, there is the concept of zaps. In the medium term, this will revolutionize social media. Patience”
The app has announced plans to release a “free edition” for macOS devices. They are also exploring the possibility of developing a version for Android and iOS17 for the EU.
