Chairman of the Government of Dagestan Abdulpakh Amirkhanov spent a meeting where countering the illegal consumption of electricity for the production of cryptocurrencies was discussed.

According to Amirkhanov, the activities of miners illegally connected to power grids lead to a shortage of electricity, and therefore the regional authorities have intensified the search for such mining farms.

In several districts of Dagestan, the activities of illegally connected miners have already been identified and stopped.

The authorities also instructed the local Ministry of Energy to report on the facts of discovered mining farms, indicating the number of identified objects, administrative and criminal cases.

Mining in the Russian Federation is not prohibited and is not yet legally regulated, however, unauthorized connection to power grids or theft of electricity for the extraction of cryptocurrencies is a crime.

Recall that Dagestan is the leader among the regions of the North Caucasus in terms of the number of revealed facts of theft of electricity for the extraction of cryptocurrencies. Since the beginning of the year, the damage has exceeded 70 million rubles.
