According to the US Department of Justice, the figurant, through shell companies, helped to launder illegal proceeds of OneCoin in the amount of more than $400 million. In addition, after the arrest of the company’s lawyer Mark Scott, she destroyed incriminating evidence.
On March 20, Dilkinska was extradited from Bulgaria to the United States. On the combined charges, she faces up to 40 years in prison.
The financial pyramid OneCoin was founded in 2014 by Ruja Ignatova together with Sebastian Greenwood. The project was initially positioned as a highly profitable cryptocurrency, in which investors profited not only from the growth of the asset, but also for attracting new participants.
Recall that in November 2019, the court of the Southern District of New York found Mark Scott guilty of laundering nearly $400 million.
In the spring of 2020, Konstantin Ignatov, the brother of the founder of OneCoin, was detained at the Los Angeles airport. He subsequently pleaded guilty to several counts.
In February 2023, journalists reported the murder of Ignatova, who was on the lists of the most wanted criminals by Europol and the FBI.
