CoinDeal investment project employee accused of $45 million fraud

57-year-old Brian Lee from Las Vegas was accused of participating in the CoinDeal investment fraud scheme, the damage from which exceeded $45 million. informs US Department of Justice.

According to the case file, Lee conspired with Neil Chandran, who controls a number of companies under the ViRSE brand. In particular, we are talking about Free Vi Lab, Studio Vi Inc., ViDelivery Inc., ViMarket Inc. and Scalex USA Inc. All of them allegedly developed a metaverse with an internal cryptocurrency.

Accomplices guaranteed high profits to potential investors, referring to the upcoming purchase of the project by a consortium of wealthy buyers.

According to the agency, Li, appointed as the nominal owner of ViMarket, at the direction of Chandran, transferred the funds received to the personal accounts of the organizers of the scheme. From more than 10,000 victims, the attackers spent millions of dollars on luxury cars and real estate.

Lee was charged with conspiracy, mail and electronic fraud, and money transactions with criminally obtained property. He faces up to 30 years in prison on the combined charges.

Chandran was arrested in June 2022 for alleged involvement in the scheme. Another co-conspirator, Michael Glaspie, who sold investments at CoinDeal, accepted one count of wire fraud in February 2023. The final verdict will be handed down on June 16.

Earlier, Cryplogger reported that the developers of the decentralized exchange Swaprum based on the Arbitrum L2 network allegedly escaped with about $ 3 million in cryptocurrency.
