Buterin shared his experience of interacting with the ChatGPT chat bot developed by OpenAI. Among the various use cases, the AI system can be used to find specific code to help write applications.
According to Buterin, ChatGPT made several mistakes when it asked the chatbot to provide specific code snippets.
“At the moment, AI is far from replacing human programmers,” he said.
Buterin added that in many cases, a chatbot can succeed and write pretty good code, especially for common tasks.
While ChatGPT can be an effective way for developers to find answers to questions, it can provide unhelpful advice. Programmers should use the tool with caution, the Ethereum co-founder added.
“However, he introduced me to some coding patterns that I hadn’t seen before, and he wrote a basic converter faster than I could have done on my own,” Buterin said.
Previously, developer platform Stack Overflow prevented users from posting code snippets generated by ChatGPT.
Recall that in December, OpenAI released the ChatGPT chat bot, which can answer questions, admit mistakes, argue and reject inappropriate requests.
In the same month, Buterin named five exciting vectors for the development of Ethereum.
