Blockchain Association moves from New York. Their new home will be the American capital. Here is what the head of the organization Christine Smith said:
“The Blockchain Association is moving resources out of New York State to focus on federal policy. We continue to hire and expand our Washington D.C. team.
Our mission remains the same: to advance the future of cryptocurrency in the US.”
Note that the Blockchain Association is the largest cryptocurrency lobby organization. This includes notable members including Ripple, Genesis, Dapper, Digital Currency Group, Kraken, and Circle.
Moving from New York can be read as a kind of protest. After all, recently the state governor Kathy Hochul approved a law that would ban certain types of cryptocurrency mining. In addition, the federal authorities have recently carried out large-scale repression against the digital asset sector.
Blockchain seeks friendlier jurisdictions
As the US SEC tightens its requirements for crypto business without giving clear guidance, blockchain companies are left with no choice but to look for safer havens abroad. For example, Coinbase launched an international futures exchange in Bermuda. The Gemini exchange took a similar step.
