The company noted that it had already gone beyond the business as a centralized exchange – this activity in the former name was symbolized by the letters Ex (exchange).
According to the statement, the platform is developing new products for the global promotion of cryptocurrencies. Already launched: MetaX non-custodial wallet, NFT marketplace and OEC decentralized exchange. The company is also looking at opportunities in the metaverse and GameFi realms.
“We are building much more than a centralized exchange. Now is the time to develop our brand to reflect what we stand for and strive for.”
OKX promised to continue the “release of next-generation crypto products” based on existing ones.
Recall that in October 2021, Facebook carried out a large-scale rebranding. The new name – Meta – demonstrates the commitment to creating a metaverse.
In December, payment firm Square changed its name to Block to reflect its focus on blockchain projects.
