  • The number of guests decreased from 35 to 15 thousand people
  • Halls at some performances of the first day were hardly a quarter filled
  • The drop in attendance is associated with the “bear” and the high price of tickets
  • The cheapest one cost $999

From May 18 to May 20, Miami hosts perhaps the most important event in the cryptocurrency community – Bitcoin 2023. Only the first day of the conference met a few guests with empty chairs. And the organizers attribute the drop in attendance to the “bear” market.

According to official site, in 2022 the event gathered more than 35 thousand visitors. Among the invited guests were sports stars, as well as representatives of the “whales” of the global market.

But this year it’s different. The organizers expect that the event will bring together about 15 thousand people. But the real numbers could be even lower. One of the participants of the event, Andre Hicks, in a commentary for Decrypt said the drop in attendance was “visible to the naked eye”.

This is his third visit to Miami. The fact that there are fewer people this year, he explained not only by the fall in the BTC rate, but also by inflation. Some simply cannot afford such a trip.

Note that a regular ticket for Bitcoin 2023 cost $999. But the Industry Pass is $2299.

The situation is well illustrated photos from the first day of the conference. At some performances, the hall was hardly a quarter filled.

We previously reported that MicroStrategy co-founder Michael Saylor took part in the conference. In a press comment, he stated that the company is interested in Ordinals.
