Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates predicted the emergence of digital AI agents that would radically change the behavior of users on the network. Writes about it CNBC.
“You will never go to a search site again, you will never go to a productivity site, you will never go to Amazon again,” he said, describing potential virtual assistants.
According to Gates, the yet-to-be-developed artificial intelligence assistant will be able to understand human needs and habits.
The billionaire failed to predict who would win the race to create an AI agent. The chances of tech giants and startups are equal, he added.
“I would be disappointed if Microsoft didn’t intervene. But I’m impressed with a couple of startups, including Inflection,” Gates said.
The businessman believes that it will take some time to develop such agents. Until then, companies will continue to incorporate generative technologies like large language models into their products.
The businessman also spoke about the health care efforts associated with his work at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He stated that AI will accelerate innovation in space and lead to better drug development.
According to him, humanity is approaching the creation of drugs for the treatment of diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. The first human drug trials will take place in 10 years, Gates suggested.
The businessman also touched upon the topic of generative AI. He believes that technology will significantly affect office workers, and robots will be able to replace workers in production.
“Since we’re inventing these robots, we need to make sure they don’t get Alzheimer’s,” Gates joked.
Recall that in March, the businessman called GPT the most important discovery since 1980.
In April, Gates criticized the idea of pausing research into large language models.
