Yuga Labs’ decision to appoint Activision Blizzard CEO Daniel Alegre is important for all of GameFi. This opinion was expressed by Illuvium co-founder Kieran Warwick.
OK. I believe @yugalabs is going to make a good game now. This is big for all of GameFi.
Every day more news comes out about new players from traditional gaming entering the space. DeFi 2.0 is cool. But gaming will be the narrative that kicks off the next run.

“Every day there is more and more news about new players from the traditional gaming segment, entering the sector [GameFi]. DeFi 2.0 is cool. But games will be the storytelling that starts the next launch,” Warwick said.
December 16 American video game publisher Activision Blizzard reported about the departure of Alegre upon the expiration of the employment contract on March 31, 2023. He has been with the company since April 2020 as president and chief operating officer.
Yuga Labs, behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT collection, announced on November 19 that Alegre will take over as CEO from the first half of next year.

“[Алегре] has valuable experience in the field of entertainment, e-commerce and global strategic partnerships – all important aspects of the immersive world of Web3, – noted Yuga Labs co-founder Wiley Aronov.
Earlier, the US Federal Trade Commission demanded to block Microsoft’s purchase of Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion. According to the agency, the takeover of the video game publisher will lead to unfair competition from the corporation, price manipulation and harm to consumers.
Recall that in December, the law firm Scott + Scott filed a lawsuit against Yuga Labs on behalf of holders of BAYC and tokens of the ApeCoin project.
In the same month, the Central District of California court denied the petitions of the artist Ryder Ripps and the founder of the NFT marketplace Not Larva Labs, Jeremy Cahen, filed as part of the proceedings with Yuga Labs.
