Apple has warned the creators of the decentralized social network Damus about a possible removal from the app store due to the content monetization function.

The so-called zaps help users get Satoshi for viewing posts. The initiative is implemented through the Bitcoin Lightning Network micropayment network.
“We’ve noticed that your app allows users to send ‘hints’ related to getting content from contributors through a mechanism other than buying from [AppStore],” Apple said.
The developer of the project, William Kasarin, did not rule out abandoning zaps in order to remain in the app store.
According to him, if Apple removes the application, their marketplace will become “a dead platform for blockchain applications trying to innovate with Lightning.”
“Damus does not sell digital goods or provide tools to sell them. The service simply has hints to facilitate P2P transactions, for example, through Venmo or CashApp,” added the representatives of the protocol.
Damus positions itself as a social network controlled by users. The application is built on a decentralized web nostrwhich provides end-to-end exchange of personal messages without the use of servers through repeaters.
The developers introduced the content monetization feature in March. In parallel with the introduction of zaps, the platform was flooded with fraudulent projects posing as original cryptocurrency protocols.
Recall that in May the developers M2E-STEPN project added the possibility of direct payment via Apple Pay for users of iOS devices.
In the same month, the blockchain game Axie Infinity became available on the App Store. So far, the application can only be downloaded in Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Venezuela, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam.
