After months of development and some delays, US giant Amazon getting ready to sell NFTs on their own platform.
Amazon has been reportedly working on its service for several months now. News about the creation of the platform appeared in early January of this year. The company’s CEO, Andy Jassy, said that such an initiative would allow a focus on blockchain-based games that would reward NFT players.
Even last year, Jassi was confident in the growth of the NFT market. He said:
“I expect NFTs to continue to grow very significantly. Perhaps we are still far from the introduction of crypto assets as a payment mechanism, but I believe that over time there will be more cryptocurrencies. It is possible that Amazon will implement crypto payments.
The platform will be available on the American giant’s website through the Amazon Digital Marketplace tab. At first, this tab will only be available in the US. Gradually it will be opened to the rest of the world. The launch was delayed twice due to the collapse of FTX. If there are no force majeure events, then April 24 will be the final opening date.
Earlier this year, Amazon was getting ready to launch. The company was looking for Web3 employees for its cloud services and opened its own NFT marketplace.
