Amazon Cloud Division – Amazon Web Services (AWS) – established a $100 million fund to finance its own projects focused on generative artificial intelligence (AI).
According to the statement, the main goal of the company is to “accelerate enterprise development and the development of AI technologies.”
The AWS program, called the Generative AI Innovation Center, will work with customers to “build customized solutions” with the guidance of strategists, data scientists, engineers, and solution architects.
“For example, healthcare and life sciences companies may be looking for tools to accelerate research and drug development. Manufacturing can develop solutions to rethink industrial design and processes. Financial services companies can create ways to better personalize information and recommendations,” the company explained.
The projects will work closely with experts from Amazon and their partners. The Innovation Center team will provide guidance on how to apply generative AI and optimize machine learning operations to reduce costs.
AWS offers the following tools:
- AI programming companion Amazon CodeWhisperer;
- a platform for creating generative AI applications Amazon Bedrock;
- the Amazon Titan base model family;
- Amazon SageMaker Machine Learning Model Builder.
AWS clients include sales force efficiency firm Highspot, international travel company Lonely Planet, and data service provider Twilio.
Amazon has also entered into an agreement with tech giant Nvidia to build a “next-generation” infrastructure for training AI models based on its own Trainium hardware.
Recall that in February, the media reported that Google invested $ 300 million in the AI startup Anthropic. The project later raised another $450 million.
In June, OpenAI launched a $1 million AI cybersecurity grant program.
