Activision Blizzard filed patent application for the registration of technology for synthesizing music in video games using artificial intelligence.
According to the document, the system will be able to extract, accumulate and calculate various variables to create soundtracks that match user tastes and specific scenarios.
Generation will occur depending on the skills or experience of the player. The system also takes into account one or more events, reactions, actions or movements of the user.

The patent describes various methods for dynamically creating music. They can explore a player’s individual profile or be generated by modulating audio segments into different styles using machine learning.

The developers believe that the system will be able to influence the successes and failures of users. Unique musical compositions will be generated for players with different backgrounds.
For example, if the system detects that the user easily defeats the boss, the soundtrack will become more rhythmic, so that the process of completing the level becomes more intense. In the future, the algorithms will take into account previous experience in order to maintain the pace of the game.
For users with low skills, the system will be able to give audio prompts when to attack an enemy and dodge, or create a less intense musical accompaniment.
“By automating the process of playing and modulating soundtracks, a video game can become more immersive, enjoyable, and provide users with a wide range of customizable features to enhance the overall experience,” the patent says.
The document describes in detail the application of technology in multi-user modes. However, the developers stressed that the system could be adapted for single-player games as well.

Recall that in February 2022, Sony introduced AI that defeats professional players in the racing simulator Gran Turismo. According to the developers, the system outperforms competitors from DeepMind and OpenAI Five,
In April 2021, Sony patented an AI that plays video games instead of the user.
