From June 2022 to May 2023, more than 101,000 login credentials for the popular AI chatbot ChatGPT were sold on various darknet marketplaces. This is reported by the cybersecurity company Group-IB.

The researchers found information in infostealer magazines.
In May 2023 alone, nearly 27,000 ChatGPT-related credentials became available on online marketplaces. The largest number of leaks – 40% – fell on the Asia-Pacific region.
Most of the victims live in India – over 12,600, about 3,000 victims are users from the United States. France ranked first in terms of the number of leaked credentials in Europe, with over 2,900.
Group-IB reminded that ChatGPT accounts can be created either directly through OpenAI or use existing logins from Google, Microsoft or Apple. In this case, requests and chat history are saved by default.
Experts warned that confidential information available to third parties could be used to launch attacks against companies or individuals.
Users were advised to update passwords regularly and use two-factor authentication to secure accounts.
